Detroit Chapter hosted a successful 2018 NCR Forum, “Driving Next”. The event was held in the beautiful Westin Book Cadillac in Downtown Detroit. We were walking distance from several great restaurants, casinos and many points of interest. Our chapter was represented by several members this year. The event kicked-off Thursday with a Trade Show and networking event. Friday was filled with great seminars and speakers. The morning keynote speaker started with a great discussion on a hot-button topic, Racism & Gender Bias in the Building Trades by Mr. Peter Hammer. The rest of forum was filled with informative and engaging seminars, a few to note were “Creating a Sustainable Culture for Innovation and Engagement”, “Technology in the Construction Industry”, “Negotiation Skills: Gaining the Edge without Falling off the Cliff” (hosted by our very own Aileen Leipprandt) and “Sticky Situations: Surviving Conflict, Change & Challenging People”.
This year’s forum had a great attendance. We were joined by several Regional directors from other regions. In addition we were joined by several National Chair holders, including our current National President Catherine Schoenenberger and National President Elect Dove Sifer-Putman.
I hope you consider attending next year’s Regional Forum. It is a great opportunity to attend beneficial seminars and network with NAWIC members and leaders.
