Welcome to NAWIC’s Grand Rapids Chapter!

The National Association of Women in Construction was formed in 1953 by 16 women in the construction industry in Fort Worth, Texas. Currently, there are more than 150 chapters nationwide and almost 4,000 members. Globaly, NAWIC has affiliates in Australia, Canada, New Zeeland, South Africa, and the United Kingdom.

The Grand Rapids Chapter #194 was chartered in 1973. Our chapter membership meetings involve industry speakers, job site tours, and other great learning experiences. Along with these local learning opportunities, there are industry continuing education programs for certifications through the NAWIC Education Foundation (NEF).  Both locally and nationally, there are competitions held for students in grades 1-6 at the Block Kids event and a CAD/Design/Drafting competition for those in high school. We also focus on raising money for scholarships to assist recipients in their construction related college education.

NAWIC’s Core Purpose:
To enhance the success of women in the construction industry, and thus advance the causes of all women in construction, from tradeswomen to business owners.

NAWIC’s Core Values:
Believe in ourselves, persevere with the strength of our convictions, and dare to move into new horizons.

NAWIC’s Goals:
Facilitate internal leadership training, emphasize professional development, promote educational opportunities within NAWIC Partners, develop mutually beneficial relationships with industry partners, and provide leadership to the industry.

We’d love to have you join us for a meeting soon!
