Women in Construction Week Luncheon

National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC) Grand Rapids Chapter #194 is celebrating national Women in Construction week. NAWIC Grand Rapids would like to invite you to our annual Women In Construction Appreciation Luncheon. Our keynote speakers this year will be Julie Neph, the Chief Engineer at the Mackinac Bridge.

Julie Neph is the Chief Engineer at the Mackinac Bridge.  She has held her current position for a little over 2 years.  Prior to that, she was the Assistant Engineer of the Mackinac Bridge.  As Chief Engineer, she is responsible for inspecting and maintaining the bridge through the in-house maintenance program and out sourced contracts. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from Michigan Technological University in Houghton, Michigan.  She is originally from the Midland, Michigan area and moved north to work at the Mackinac Bridge.  She has lived in northern Michigan most of her life.  Julie is married with two college aged children.

This year we have partnered with Hand2Hand, a local organization that is delivering hope and food every Friday to 7,500 kids in 200 West Michigan Schools (with the help of 120 church partners), ages 3-18, who experience food insecurity. We are asking attendees to consider donate to this organization and their wonderful mission in one of the following ways:

1. Bring your donation items with you to the luncheon. Items they are in need of are:

  • Granola Bars
  • Individual sized fruit cups (applesauce or peaches)
  • Individual sized oatmeal packets

2. Donating via Eventbrite when you register.  The NAWIC GR Board will go out to purchase items they need and deliver them to Hand2Hand

We will be holding this event in person and virtually via Zoom.  In-Person RSVP’s will be closed after March 3rd.  Virtual RSVP’s will be available until the day of the event.  Please invite all the women in construction that you know.
